Introduction to Breathwork

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, LDC Wellbeing is excited to partner with Ruth Cooper-Dickson, a UK-based resilience, wellbeing, and trauma-informed coach, to offer an Introduction to Breathwork workshop. This session will take place on Tuesday, May 14.

Breathwork is the practice of using intentional, controlled breathing exercises to affect your physical, mental, and emotional state in positive ways. As a mindfulness tool, practicing breathwork can be a wonderful aid in re-centering in the present moment.

Breathwork techniques have been proven to:

  • Relieve stress and anxiety
  • Release and heal trauma or adverse life experiences
  • Focus on being more positive
  • Develop emotional regulation
  • Improve energy and performance
  • Enhance your quality of sleep
  • Reduce chronic pain.

The workshop will cover:

  • An introduction to the science behind breathwork
  • A full body scan meditation
  • Different breathing techniques you can adopt to relax, focus, build clarity, and build energy
  • Conscious connected breathing, which will allow deep awareness of self, and our connection with others, providing the groundwork for profound personal development
  • Q&A.
