CHAMPS Talks Perimenopause with Emma James

18 October 2023 @ 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

BUPA found that almost 900,000 women in the UK had left their jobs because of menopausal symptoms.  Whilst we accept that menopause is an inevitable and natural part of growing older, women feeling compelled to give up work at the peak of their careers is neither inevitable nor normal.

How can we stop this from happening?

This CHAMPS Talks we will be discussing the physical and emotional changes that occur during perimenopause and what can be done to support each other during a challenging time for all.  We will be diving into:

  • Understanding what is perimenopause and what are the signs?
  • How does what is happening to me impact my partner and family members?
  • How can the impacts show up at work and when doing my job?
  • The best way I can support those around me who may need help whether at work or at home.

Lots of women feel like they lose their identity, their ability to focus and suffer extreme physical and emotional symptoms.  By recognising what is happening and what small changes can be made to support each other this can hugely improve overall wellbeing and relationships both intimate and professional.

I am delighted to be joined by the fabulous Emma James, BSc (Hons), MCSP, SRP, HPC, APPI.  Emma is the MD, Owner and Senior Clinical Director of The Wellness Hub, Berkhamsted.

Emma qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1998 and since then has worked extensively in the private sector.

Having set up her own clinics and run multiple gym and corporate contracts delivering wellness solutions, both in house and remotely, Emma has always focused on the underlying cause of injuries rather than just treating symptoms.

Her passion and drive for a patient centric approach to care has driven her to strive to continue to develop her clinical skills over the last 25 years.

Her focus on holistic healthcare has enabled her to extend her practice to include a plethora of treatment techniques such as pilates, acupuncture, biomechanical analysis and in-depth knowledge of perimenopause and menopause and how this affects the body from a mechanical perspective.

Having re-aligned her business during the COVID pandemic she has created The Wellness Hub in Berkhamsted which encapsulates physiotherapy and complimentary services in a luxury environment – with wellbeing retail and a sense of community at its heart.  Personally, navigating a lot of recent business and personal trauma has enabled Emma to have first-hand experience of burnout and a mental health crisis and through that she is able to bring her 25 years’ experience to others, to help us live longer lives in optimal health and wellbeing.

Emma believes everybody deserves a life free from pain and creates bespoke packages for every client with individual requirements being the key focus.

Learning to thrive and not just survive is the cornerstone of Emma’s practice.
